Stepping through Fear: My First Blog Entry
It is the beginning of 2025, and I have been hard at work resetting for this new year—creating new goals, setting clear intentions, and crafting a plan for the year ahead. This is something I do every year, and 2025 is no different. However, I’m entering this year with a mix of excitement and fear for the future. Anyone else feel like that?
It’s been almost two years since I finished school. After spending a year at home saving money and travelling, I craved returning to the city. My boyfriend and I moved back to Toronto four months ago so I could reconnect with my community and artistic hub. It’s been a whirlwind settling in—balancing auditions, performances, reconnecting with friends, and keeping up with family life.
This past audition season was especially busy: over 50 applications, almost a dozen auditions, a couple of trips to NYC, several performances, my friend’s engagement, two weddings, a new niece, a nephew on the way, and moving back to Toronto—just to name the highlights. Some weeks, I felt like I was living out of my suitcase! Which is why I needed this reset—a clear vision and action plan for what I want to create this year.
This blog is one of my goals! It will hopefully be my way to connect with the incredible people cheering me on and wanting to stay updated on my journey. Social media can be overwhelming and distracting, with its constant flood of dopamine-inducing content. I wanted to create something more intentional and personal—a space to share my experiences as I travel, audition, collaborate, and, of course, sing!
I want to preface this by saying: I am not a professional writer. Truthfully, starting this blog is something I’ve actually feared. But I’m moving past the fear because I know I will gain more—and hopefully give more—through writing this blog. It will also keep me accountable—encouraging me to reflect weekly and stay focused on my vision.
My dear friend Avery actually gave me this idea as she lovingly kicked my butt into gear the other day (we all need friends like that!). Once we started brainstorming, I felt a spark that I couldn’t ignore. So, here we are! It’s a Tuesday evening, and I’m filled with excitement for what this blog will become. Hopefully, I can stay connected with each of you throughout this journey.
Thank you all so much for your support and love. I hope this inspires you to try something new and maybe a little scary this year—because it will be worth it!
